A Guide To overcome the fear of not being goodenough

If we went by the world’s definition of who I’m supposed to be because I look weird… ‘Well, surely, this guy can’t have a productive life, surely, he doesn’t have a sense of humor. Surely, he can’t love life.’  Nick Vujicic

I put a lot of pressure on myself. I think something’s not good enough, and I won’t stop until I feel like I’ve made it. I’m never satisfied. J. Cole

There’s too much darkness in the world. Everywhere you turn, someone is tryin’ to tear someone down in some way; everywhere you go, there’s a feeling of inadequacy or a feeling that you’re not good enough. Alicia Keys

I did the best I could, and in some arenas, my best was not good enough. I’ve made some bad choices. Amy Grant

I have a very healthy dose of self-loathing. But I think we all have a past of being whatever our story was, of feeling not good enough. It can propel you to work harder and do more, but it can also be a tremendous trap, and you can’t see beyond it. Kim Cattrall

What comes to mind when you reflect on these quotes about not feeling good enough? Have you noticed any patterns in the thoughts of inadequacy?

Well, the answer is obvious; you are not ALONE. We have all been in this storm.

You’re constantly confronted with the overwhelming fear that nothing you do is ever good enough. It feels like everything you attempt falls short of perfection, and you often find yourself wondering why what seems effortless for others feels so challenging for you

But here is the thing, you don’t have to be perfect to make a difference. ( This story proves it a lot). Ok! So you don’t believe me and still have doubt in your heart about how good you are, then here are 4 ways to overcome your fear of not being good enough.

1. Don’t See others as Competition.

There is common knowledge by experts to look at the competition and device measures to stand out. The problem is that to you, this sounds like a war drum.

Now competition can be very overwhelming. You have an idea that is so exciting and a message that will solve people’s problems but seeing the competition makes you wonder if you have what it takes. You struggle with the fear of not being accepted.

This is the biggest challenge for so many. By looking at the other competition, you feel that you are too young to make a difference.

You believe that you don’t have much going on in your life so you are not qualified to lead others and what would become of you if you failed?

Here is the thing, don’t look at others as your competition but see them as people who have the same drive as you.

See them as those who have the same passion as you. You don’t need to struggle with the fear of not being wanted. They may be talented, skillful, or more experienced than you but you can stand out with your unique gift.

No Competition

2. Lead from What You Have Right Now

You might be dead in your tracks because you think you don’t have the resources to make a difference.

You are waiting for the right time, at the right moment, with all the resources you need to be super successful.

Don’t waste your time. Start with what you have right now. You need to understand that every journey begins with a step and even a sweet baby comes to the world empty-handed.

There are people that you will inspire even with your little beginnings ( This little girl proved this so well). Start now. That is all there is to it.

3. You are Amazing just the Way You are.

You matter so much which is why the World can’t do with you

There might be many experts in your field and your niche might be so crowded, but it is a fact that no one can be like you

If you stay true to yourself and you are not conformed to the crowd. When you work towards improving the authentic you and provide tremendous value in your own way. Why in the world would you think that you are not good enough?

4. Being an Expert does not mean that you are an Influence.

There’s a tendency among experts to become addicted to seeking relevance, often leading them to do awkward or extreme things just to impress others and maintain their status.

Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a bad thing. People who need solutions are drawn to those that are skilled in solving them but the goal of being an expert is limiting when it is not about people but more about the title.

Experts aren’t that perfect; the best ones I have come to know, are always learners. They keep abreast of their skill to share their knowledge with their audience. Their aim isn’t to impress but to provide value to their audience.

You do not need to be number one to gain the trust of people. In fact, there are some who resonate with you in your weakness. All you need is to put yourself out there and give people the opportunity to connect with the real you.

What is it that is keeping you on the sidelines of life? What is it that is making you fear to take those steps to your dreams?

Decide today to overcome your fear and make a difference to others. Don’t forget that your voice is needed in this world.
